M. Lauryn Alexander is a New York State Certified Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) with over 25 years of experience serving English Language Learners (ELLs) in New York City public schools and at the college level, including The City University of New York (CUNY).
As a compliance-literate educator, Ms. Alexander specializes in aligning instruction with CR Part 154 requirements, supporting schools in strengthening instructional practices, improving documentation, and reducing compliance risk.
She is the founder of Success Essentials Inc® (www.EnglishBySE.com), a New York City–certified Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) and a Better Business Bureau® accredited company with an A+ rating. The company provides English Language Learner (ELL) instruction, instructional support services, and professional development aligned to New York State regulations.
Through her classroom experience, Ms. Alexander identified a critical instructional gap: students are rarely taught the practical life skill of time management, which directly impacts attendance, performance, and long-term outcomes. To address this, she developed Time & Consequences as a narrative-based instructional tool designed to support literacy development while reinforcing real-world skills such as punctuality, accountability, and decision-making.
First published in 2017 and revised in 2023, Time & Consequences is now used as a supplemental instructional resource for teens, young adults, and adult learners. In 2025, she expanded access to multilingual learners with the release of the Spanish edition, TIEMPO Y CONSECUENCIAS.
Today, her work integrates literacy, compliance, and time-management education, providing schools and organizations with tools that support both instructional effectiveness and regulatory alignment.
